On March 31st, the P.R.R asked concerned residents from all over the city of Chicago to attend a town hall meeting addressing the violence plaguing our neighborhoods and to volunteer as part of our 1st movement
under the P.R.R @Artivism House – The Self Destructed to Reconstructed (SD2R) Project. In just 10-weeks since the Town Hall meeting Chicago has been declared a war zone with double the homicides of Afghanistan; and the Rabble Rousers have organized 6 Hot Spots, 54 workshops, and the involvement of about 50 Black and Brown people, and our allies to continue in the efforts of taking back our streets.
The SD2R project uses creativity as a way to deal with the frustrations that plague communities of color. The plan calls together organizations, business leaders and artist to work collectively encouraging critical thinking and promoting personal and social responsibility around issues of violence via our pop up Hot Spots.Hot Spots are set in Chicago’s 5 most dangerous neighborhoods: Lawndale, Englewood, Austin, Humboldt Park and South Shore. They are held once per week from 6-8pm and will kick off June 21st and go until August 27th. Hot Spots will continue as a free mentorship program once per month throughout the year in various troubled communities around the city.
Throughout the summer we will explore the impact that creativity has on the way our youth view the world around them and deal with their emotions using various artistic outlets in place of violence, or self-hate tactics. This footage will be used in conjunction with research examining how art has been used as a platform for activism from generation to generation and it’s impact on various movements throughout history. Along with this mini-documentary, musicians of all genres will come together to record a single and contribute original works that speak to the violence rocking our country. The Artivism© mini-documentary and soundtrack will be released in 2013, while the Side A (current artist) and Side B (future leaders) single will be released as part of the project culmination along with the the teddy bear and sandbox public arts installation.

Thank you sir!
